Steamer Lane Design is hiring a part time Production Assistant to work in laser engraving, product assembly, and shipping. We are located on the westside of Santa Cruz and make laser engraved wood magnets, keychains, ornaments and pins for National Parks and gift shops around the country.
Shifts are 8 hours long, 2-5 days per week, and available in the morning and evening, 7 days a week. When applying, please describe your availability and desired number of hours per week.
Starting pay is $18+/hour, depending on skills and experience. We are currently hiring for a part time position, but we're a growing company and there is opportunity for this position to become full time.
A typical day includes:
Assembling pins, keychains and ornaments.
Gluing magnets to wood pieces.
Packing and shipping orders.
Operating laser engravers (training will be provided, no experience necessary).
The majority of your time will be spent assembling small products. This requires fast hands, finger dexterity and an eye for details. There is a strong focus on quality control and efficiency. The tasks are very repetitive, but a pair of headphones and good podcasts make the day go quickly!
