Can you show proof the oil companies are artificially keeping prices high? What's your source for this information? Right now there is not artificial shortages it's real and its because Biden has stopped the use of some of the best known leases like ANWR. Through his Administration he let it be known banks that lend to companies finding new oil fields will be frowned upon. He outright said he'll shutdown the oil industry. Sadly you're repeating Democrat talking points backed up by nothing. We're not in the 1970's when the Middle East cut our supplies because we imported half our needs. We have enough natural gas and oil to fuel our energy needs for a couple hundred years if the Federal government would allow it but this current president wants a premature conversion to renewable energy which only can be done at a tremendous price to consumers. If the average guy can't afford filling his gas tank its a certainty he can't buy a $60,000 electric car which their average cost and there's not enough of them to put in every garage if we could. There's no maybe because for millions upon millions of consumers every dollar saved is a blessing, won't solve the high price problem but it will help and consumers are all I favor of it so who are you to dismiss their requests? If you insist the only possible solution is for gas to go back to $3.50 a gallon or do nothing you're out of step with most Americans. Are you aware Biden after his last announcement of releasing oil from our strategic reserves sent 5 million barrels to Europe and Asia, primarily China? WTF! That by October our reserves will be 1/3 of what they were in Jan 2020? Had Biden not changed our energy polices we wouldn't be in the position we're in today and that's an absolute irrefutable fact. More oil would have been discovered, recovered and made available without any need for foreign imports. Interesting you have no problem with Zuckerberg and the other high tech billionaires suppressing free speech and information while they collect their mega $billion bonuses. I question your priorities. I wasn't referring to the taxes that the corporations would be pocketing. They won't be getting the taxes. I never said that. The fact that suspending the taxes wouldn't have enough of an affect on the price of gas at the pump which I clearly indicated. The oil corporations be it Shell, Chevron, BP (whoever) would just do what they always do and ensure that the price per barrel "remains high" for as long as they can make it, and they do that by producing artificial shortages or use "natural disasters" as excuses to gouge people at the pump and raise the price per gallon. The problem is the corporations and the relationship they have had with the federal government and senators. The federal government is all to fast and willing to cut every possible tax break they can to companies like BP and Chevron so long as the lobbyists continue to line the pockets of senators and ensure their seat in congress for the next 30-50 years. That's one of the major problems, not removing the gas taxes. Will it help? Maybe? I don't know, but it's not going to make $6.00 a gallon drop to $3.50 a gallon. You might see a 25 cent drop in the price of gas at its current cost(at best). Even if the price per gallon dropped to $5.50....people would still be getting screwed at the pump and Oil CEOs would still be making billions not including their multi-million dollar bonuses they like to give themselves.
