Position Summary: The Yard Hostler is responsible for the receiving/put-away process of containers in the yard. The Yard driver must meet and carry proper current DMV class license to operate a yard tractor in the confines of ONLY the Yard. Responsibilities: Flexible in shift hours to meet the needs of the business Punctual and meet attendance requirements- be on time every day of scheduled shift and adhere to break/lunch schedule. Perform daily yard-goat Preventive Maintenance Check. Maintain and track daily yard moves Follow directions, instructions provided by Supervisor or department Lead for yard moves needed for shift’s operations. All moves must be completed in a safe, timely manner. All accident/incidents (minor/major) should be reported immediately to a member of management. Will be required to remove empties trailers and containers from dock doors. Employee is expected to communicate effectively with Management regarding any situation that may arise throughout the shift. May be required to provide assistance to outside carrier drivers while they are in the yard Upon completion of yard instruction, driver will be required to perform various job functions inside the distribution center. Yard equipment should be secured at the end of each shift. (I.E. doors & windows closed) Overtime is permitted only with Supervisor/Manager’s approval. Requirements: Minimum 5 years experience in a Retail Distribution Warehouse. Minimum 5 years experience as a Yard Driver Clean driving record. Less than 3 points in the last 5 years.
