New to sketching or nature journaling? No worries- I'll share tips on how to sketch with more ease, so you can spend more time taking in the wildlife!
Our nature journaling adventure with be in three parts:
First, on land, I'll share some information and components you might want to add in your journal pages ahead of time, tips on how to nature journal while moving, landscapes, maps, animals, practice a bit of sketching to warm up.
Then, we board the Elkhorn Slough Safari boat, a stable platform (pontoon boat) with metal benches and 360 degree views. We'll have our journals out, and take in the wildlife, and let nature guide us down the winding slough, giving us good views of the landscape, and slough-scape, stopping when nature arises.
After returning to shore, we'll disembark and finish up our journaling, and share our collective experience.
Elkhorn Slough is a biologically rich estuary, located in the heart of Monterey Bay, between Santa Cruz and Monterey. Home to a diversity of plants and animals, this area is an important habitat for migratory birds. Resident and migratory (seasonal) shorebird, sea otters, harbor seals and sea lions can be viewed in the slough. There is a resident population of over 125 sea otters in the slough.
