Description

MILO Scared of people 15lbs (size of a terrier) Black with white on muzzle Pug/Chihuahua mix Milo is about 15lbs. Mostly BLACK. A bit of WHITE on his muzzle due to his age of 9yrs. He is a mix of Pug/Chihuahua/Heinz 57. He DOES NOT LIKE PEOPLE. He DOES like dogs. If you see him just call AND text . Try and share the time and location of the sighting. And if you know of someone who may have him, we are grateful they have kept him safe this long and understand that he easily could have seemed an unwanted dog. As many of you may already know Milo went missing April 27 from a home adjacent to Taquitz Creek Golf Course near Los Santos and Golf Club Dr (between 111 and Dinah Shore). The search team for Milo who had just moved to this neighborhood has come to include a number of people who are both from this area and nearby Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City and La Quinta. All of the people who have come to join this search team, once strangers, are now valued friends. They are also all full-time residents to our area. I am sharing this because we are fully aware of how a Lost Dog poster may not look gorgeous on a lamp post. And we have had a couple of phone calls saying as much. Most calls we have received have been very supportive. But we now have noticed that someone is removing the posters and that’s after we have taken time to replace the older ratty looking ones. I know there’s an 818 phone number on the sign. Maybe someone is irritated at the thought that a visitor has lost their dog in the area? Maybe the heat of summer is gaining its grip? Well, as I mentioned, Milo was a permanent full time resident to the area and had just moved to Palm Springs. The confusion of the move caused him to race away. He IS microchipped so if he’s either found deceased or alive this will increase his chances of us being notified. He is also VERY skittish. And that was before he turned into what the experts call ‘flight mode’ which makes many lost dogs almost impossible to catch without a trap. THE GOOD NEWS !! – Milo was seen on surveillance cameras at a home in Date Palm Country Club on June 2, 2022. That is more than a month after he was lost. We have had another visual sighting a couple of weeks before that. This is why we are continuing to put up posters. We need people to know he is missing and to keep an eye out and to have the number handy on their phone. If anyone wants to join in on the team of amazing people who continue to volunteer time and moral support to the cause you can text that number. We’d love to have more help. We have 2 billboards up that say HELP BRING MILO HOME and we’ve had bloodhound tracking dogs come out three times to help. And in our search efforts many other good deeds have been accomplished. (maybe consider this when you see the signs up….there’s a team of good people out in the neighborhood doing their best to help others). We have given food and water and also dignified interactions with homeless people as we work on engaging them. We have befriended one man in particular who has shown to be a most upstanding and full of potential person. We are helping him regain his ID documents so that we can then help him gain employment and we even put him up in a hotel for a night to shower and have some rest. He is a father of 3 and has found himself here from Arkansas. Obviously many more details from that life story. In terms of dogs…we have retrieved 1 lost dog who was thought to be Milo and got him to the shelter safely. We were first on scene of a deceased Frenchie and were able to connect with his owner to offer sincere condolences. In our shelter vists we encountered a dog needing emergency eye surgery and we raised funds for him and now he is safely recovering at Living Free Sanctuary. And finally we rescued a senior Chihuahua who was set to be euthanized had we not seen her in our frequent shelter visits for Milo. So, all this to say, perhaps we may be able to ask for your understanding when you see the Milo LOST DOG posters everywhere.
