For summer 2022, the Nevada City Film Festival (NCFF) presents Movies Under the Pines, an outdoor cinema experience for the entire family, Fridays, July 22, August 12 & 26, at the Pioneer Park Bandshell in Nevada City.
Friday, July 22 - The Goonies - Old-fashioned yarn about a band of adventurous kids who take on the might of a property developing company which plans to destroy their home to build a country club. When the children discover an old pirate map in the attic, they follow it into an underground cavern in search of lost treasure but come up against plenty of dangerous obstacles along the way. Directed by Richard Donner (PG 1985 Adventure/Comedy 1hr 54min)
"Original and sometimes bizarre, this is a timely reminder of what "kids' movies" can deliver in an era almost defined by superhero flicks and Disney franchise reboots." - Times UK
"The Goonies is as hip, sassy and innocent as its seven teenage heroes." - Time
The film festival brings in state of the art projection and sound to create an outdoor movie theatre on the grass at Pioneer Park. Beer, wine, popcorn, and soft drinks are available for purchase. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks allowed. Outside alcoholic beverages prohibited. Blankets and low back chairs are suggested.
Come early to picnic with your family and enjoy lawn games at 7:30pm or show up when the films start at sunset (around 8:30pm). Every spot in the park is a good one with our 32-foot outdoor screen. Tickets $8/Per Person or $30/Per Family (four people).
Movies Under the Pines is generously sponsored by the City of Nevada City, Tri-Counties Bank, Telestream, Natural Selection, and SPD Markets.
