The magic of the Cuatro is in the hands of the extraordinary Eduardo Ramirez, accompanied by a young virtuoso flutist Rodrigo Rodriguez. Rodrigo Rodriguez A native of Venezuela, Rodrigo is a flutist and recent graduate of the Osceola County School for the Arts in Kissimmee, Florida. He has participated in the Florida Music Education Association's All-state ensembles since 2019. Rodrigo appeared in Carnegie Hall with OCSA's Symphony Orchestra as principal flute. He participated in the YOLA National Festival, chamber music, and symphony orchestra. Rodrigo collaborated with flute professor Jennifer Grim and worked under the batons of Roderick Cox and Gustavo Dudamel, ending the program with a performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. He appeared on NPR's From the Top and was awarded their Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award, a $10,000 scholarship that enabled him to purchase a new high-quality flute. For the past two summers, Rodrigo has had the incredible opportunity of participating in the National Youth Orchestra 2. He currently serves as principal at Florida Symphony Youth Orchestras' Symphonic Orchestra. Rodrigo was also selected as a finalist for the National YoungArts Competition in the classical music discipline. Rodrigo enjoys traveling, hanging out with friends, and loves traditional Venezuelan food when not making music. Eduardo Ramirez Born in Los Teques, Miranda, Venezuela. Self-taught in cuatro playing. In 1981, Eduardo performed his first concert as a cuatro soloist. Aged 18, he receives formal instruction in music at the Escuela Superior José Ángel Lamas. Studies mandolin with Maestro José Mondragón. Joins the Estudiantina de la Universidad Central de Venezuela and develops a career with this type of ensemble, eventually becoming a member of the National Typical Orchestra of Venezuela. Founder and conductor of the Estudiantina del Ateneo de Los Teques and of the Orquesta Típica de Miranda. Founds and leads the Movimiento de Estudiantinas of Miranda. During two years (2003 - 2005), has accompanied famous folk singer Gualberto Ibarreto on his national tours. In 2004, works as guest conductor of the Plectrum Young Orchestra of Baden Württemberg. He is currently chairman of the Foundation for the Typical Orchestras of Venezuela, vice-chair and mandolin player at the National Typical Orchestra, conductor of the Otilio Galíndez Ensemble, and conductor of the Estudiantina from the National Typical Orchestra. Has performed concerts in Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Spain, Germany, Finland, France, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Guyana, Portugal, and indeed Venezuela.
