Press release from the San Antonio Public Library: Andrew Crews 26 May 2022 1868 Saul Wolfson opens a dry goods store in an adobe building on Alamo Plaza. 1869 The velocipede (bicycle) makes its first appearance in San Antonio. 1981 The Daughters of the Republic of Texas approve the construction of a one-story building on the Alamo grounds to accommodate work space for the curator and staff, a new greenhouse for the Alamo horticulturalist, new security headquarters, a staff lounge and dining area and much needed restrooms.
