It is RARE for mass shooters to have a criminal record that would have kept them in jail. A lot of them are kids that have never been arrested. And saying we need more "mental health help" in communities also misses the point. Some of these kids show signs but and the school's mental health counselors got involved. The kid in Michigan who shot up his school was in the Principal's office with his parents. The school recommended that the parents take him home but they refused. The people we need to "crack down on like never before" are the gun owners who don't take their responsibility seriously. The parents of the Michigan school shooter are being prosecuted and that's a good first step.
