Wunderlich Park Habitat Restoration Volunteer Event

30 July, 2022

Description

Help San Mateo County restore habitat at Wunderlich Park by removing invasive weeds! Wunderlich County Park is a beautiful open space with redwood forest, open meadows, and beautiful oaks and madrones. The park's recreational trail system takes hikers, joggers, and horseback riders through the numerous plant communities Wunderlich has to offer. These communities are currently being threatened by invasive plant species that outcompete local species for light and nutrients. If you want to help protect this varied habitat, come join us Saturday, July 30th as we remove invasive weeds from the park! We ask that you wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing you don't mind getting dirty for your protection and comfort. We also recommend that every attendee bring a personal water bottle; drinking water may not always be available at our volunteer sites. Sunscreen, snacks, hats, and layers are also great to have on hand in case the weather gets warm or cold! If weather conditions are deemed too extreme, this event may be canceled and we will reach out to participants by email. If signing up as a family or a group, please adjust the number of volunteer sign-ups according to the number of volunteers in your party when filling out your registration form. Groups of eight or more must contact [email protected] at least at least 3 weeks in advance to register. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or guardian. Youth under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. We will be following current state protocols in regards to COVID-19 (subject to change by the time of the event). Masks are not required when outdoors and distanced from other volunteers; we ask that you wear a face mask or face covering when you are within 6 feet of others. All volunteer events held by San Mateo County Volunteer Stewardship have a maximum capacity of 30 volunteers (not including staff). A reminder email with more detailed instructions on the day's activities and where to meet will also be sent in advance of the event. We look forward to seeing you in the parks! Please direct questions and comments for this event to Stuart Smith at [email protected]. Interested in receiving updates about future events?
