Calling all Women Veterans! Come out to the Texas Women Veterans Day celebration at the San Antonio College Victory Center! Calling all Women Veterans! The Women Veterans of San Antonio invite you to come out to the Texas Women Veterans Day celebration at the San Antonio College Victory Center! Women Veterans Day, also referred to as Women Veterans Recognition Day and Women Veterans Appreciation Day, is the anniversary of the day the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act (pub.L. 80–625, 62 Stat. 356) was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman on June 12, 1948. Prior to then, only women nurses could serve in the regular and reserve forces during peacetime. On May 5, 2017, Representative Victoria Neave filed House Bill 2698, establishing Women Veterans Day. HB2698 was later incorporated into Texas Senate Bill 805 and on June 9, 2017 was signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott designating June 12th as Women Veterans Day. We will have dozens of veteran resources, swag bags for the first 150 women veterans, a DJ, raffle prizes, and more!
