Description
Cary Swinney & Richard Bowden - Live at The Echo Bridge The Echo Bridge Appreciation society is excited to welcome to the Bridge, Lubbock singer-songwriter, Cary Swinney, and his great friend, the Texas fiddle legend, Richard Bowden, known for his work with the Austin Lounge Lizards, Terry Allen, Joe Ely, and Ryan Bingham to name but a few. Swinney is a natural talent. Among the many talented musicians that have hailed from Lubbock, Swinney is much beloved. He’s the real deal. A musician’s musician. As Chris Moser of KVET radio in Austin put it, “To anyone that pays attention to musicians from Lubbock, Cary Swinney is like Bob Dylan.” He will pull you in with his downhome friendliness while delivering poetic and often humorous lyrics that confront head on the absurdities of life as we know it. Cary prefers to stay out of the limelight instead spending much of the last fifteen years in New Mexico without running water or electricity in a remote cabin sitting at 8,000 feet. He regularly turns down high profile opening gigs. As he puts it, “I’d rather put a f’n shotgun in my mouth and pull the trigger than perform for those kinds of audiences.” We are lucky to be a kind of audience he wants to play for and on Sunday, May 22nd, we hope you can join us to see for yourself the musical antics of the one and only Cary Swinney alongside the virtuosity of Richard Bowden. For a taste of what to expect, please visit the links below. As an extra bonus, we will also be featuring new art by the much beloved local artist and jokester, Gary Sweeney. (We couldn’t resist). Get your tickets today as they will once again go fast. Come witness the talents of Swinney and Sweeney while enjoying the serene sunset by the river. Hope to see you there!
