SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA — The City of San Juan Capistrano's plans to build the community's first skate park may be delayed, after a lawsuit was filed against the city by a local nonprofit, the Capistrano Dispatch reported.
Preserve Our Farm SJC filed a lawsuit against the city in the Orange County Superior Court near the end of April. The lawsuit claims the city did not hold a "proper environmental review" in regard to the skate park, which is located at 32681 Alipaz St., the Capistrano Dispatch said.
Former San Juan Capistrano Mayor Carolyn Nash was identified as an officer and member of the group, the report stated. Nash wrote a guest opinion featured on the Capistrano Dispatch in 2020, where she calls for the preservation of the Kinoshita Farm, and did not reply to the Capistrano Dispatch for comment.
"Undoubtedly, the lawsuit will add cost and delay the project," City Manager Ben Siegel told the Capistrano Dispatch in an email.
