Trinity Lutheran Church Church Nursery Worker Job Description Purpose: To provide dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children, ages 0-5 years, on Sunday mornings. Responsibilities: A. Responsible for providing age-appropriate care which includes: feeding, changing diapers, maintaining a safe environment, holding, or sitting with and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer. B. Be polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers. C. Arrive at Trinity at 8 AM each Sunday morning. Child care hours are from 8 AM to 11 AM. D. May give a snack to the children which has been provided by Trinity. E. Stay until the children are secured with a responsible adult named on the Sign-In form. F. In the event of an emergency notify the parent or guardian via cell phone. G. Straighten the room and clean any toys/beds before leaving. All toys that have had contact with saliva will require special attention. Sanitizing wipes will be available to use in the nursery. H. Report to the Pastor any issues which are hindering the carrying out of the duties. I. Communicate in advance, by phone or email, to the Office Manager any planned absences with an advance two week notice. J. Communicate to the Pastor as soon as possible any unplanned absences. Desired Qualifications: A. Experience in caring for children between the ages of 0 to 5 with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities. B. At least 18 years of age. C. Satisfactory completion of background check and drug screening. D. Must present the results of a current (within 1 year) Tuberculin and current immunizations including Covid vaccination E. Must adhere to Trinity Lutheran Church Child Protective Policy Guidelines. F. Three references. Compensation: A. $65 for 8 AM to 11 AM each Sunday. Termination Policy: A. There will be a 90 day probationary period where either party may terminate employment without cause. Beyond this a two week notice is expected. B. Dependability is essential. Tardiness and excessive absences cannot be tolerated and will result in termination of employment.
