MILL VALLEY, CA — A suspected burglar and stalker was arrested Friday night in Mill Valley, the Marin County Sheriff's Office reported.
At around 11:45 p.m. Friday, sheriff's deputies were dispatched to reports of a prowler in Strawberry, according to the MCSO. A deputy arrived and located the suspect, who attempted to flee on foot. After a short pursuit, the suspect was placed under arrest.
The suspect, whom the Marin Independent Journal reports to be Jorge Manuel Mestayer, 40, of San Francisco based on jail booking records, is associated with a burglary at a nearby address. The Independent Journal also reported that booking allegations say that Mestayer is a convicted felon, and that he remains in custody on a $500,000 bail.
Police say they found a butterfly knife, stun gun and several hundred dollars in cash on Mestayer's person, and a loaded handgun inside his vehicle. He was booked into Marin County Jail for alleged stalking, burglary, evading arrest, and several weapons violations.
