Mill Valley Readies To Celebrate Earth Day

MILL VALLEY, CA — The city of Mill Valley will hold an Earth Day celebration event this weekend. The free "Earth 2050" event will be held Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Mill Valley Community Center. The family-friendly festival will feature food, live music, art and games and activities highlighting sustainable living, city officials said. Maria Muldaur and the Red Hot Bluesiana Band, Matt Jaffe, Reed Fromer, the Shady Ladies, and the Freedom Singers are among the musical artists scheduled to perform at the event. Tom Killion and Tess Felix are among the artists whose work will be featured. "Earth 2050 invites people of all ages to imagine a more just and sustainable world by 2050," city officials said in a statement. "Through playful activities, you will learn about simple actions you can take to protect our future, such as: use clean energy, eat sustainably, live lightly and build healthy communities." Zero-Waste Chef author Anne-Marie Bonneau and Marin District 3 Supervisor Stephanie Moulton-Petersare scheduled to speak at the event. Free ice cream will be served courtesy of Straus Family Creamery. The event will also feature some 50 green businesses and environmental exhibitions.
