Description

Alchemist CDC seeks volunteers for the CalFresh at Farmers' Markets program. Join us for a one-hour info session on-site to learn more. Alchemist CDC operates CalFresh/EBT booths at farmers’ markets across Sacramento County, allowing CalFresh (federally called "SNAP," previously know as "food stamps") recipients the ability to use their EBT card to shop with local farmers' market vendors. We operate state issued EBT machines that function like ATMs for CalFresh/EBT customers and we rely on our volunteers to run transactions, count out vouchers, and help us with various tasks throughout the market day. Many of our volunteers say they love the atmosphere of the markets and the feeling of directly assisting families shopping for fresh foods! Shifts range between 2.5-4.5 hours with no long-term commitment and designated staff provide on-site training. We look forward to meeting you at this in-person session. Alchemist CDC requires all volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID (including booster) and presentation of your proof of vaccination will be required. Please arrive on time as we will start promptly. As space is limited, we ask that you let us know if you can not make the session so your spot can be made for someone else to attend.
