The Newport Beach Historical Society presents, “The History of Newport Beach - Fom The Stone Age To The Yachting Age"
The Newport Beach Historical Society in partnership with the Newpport Beach Central Library cordially invites you to our inaugural membership seminar of 2022!
This FREE community event will include an educational seminar presented by Lenard Davis, retired history teacher, author, Newport Beach historian and NBHS Board Member.
*There will be an opportunity drawing with fun prizes including book and dinner giveaways and refreshments will be served.
Key Note Speaker Profile:
A native of Newport Beach, California, Lenard Davis is a retired history teacher who also has become an avid wine collector and enthusiast over the past few years. He has traveled much of the world since retiring, sometimes as a lecturer for Princess Cruises. His published writings include Newport! A Novel (now in its second edition) which chronicles local history over a two thousand year timeline. He subsequently published Lido Isle, an Illustrated History which retells the story of Lido’s development and social history making use of many old photos from the archives of the Lido isle Community Association. Another work on local history is Newport Crest, an Illustrated History, which details the origins of that community. Another novel is The Maze is Hell, Sir! which follows the story of a young man who attends Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. Davis has also published Wine Memories, the Personal Recollections of a Wine Lover and is currently working on a sequel edition. He currently writes a wine column for Lido Living Magazine and other local monthly publications and holds a WSET Level 3 advanced certificate in wines and spirits. He has also contributed to the Op Ed Page in the Daily Pilot from time to time.
