Description

LANCASTER, CA — An explosion and two-alarm fire burned a large UPS warehouse and at least six delivery trucks in Lancaster Monday morning, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. It is not yet clear whether packages were inside the trucks. "The fire spread throughout a metal clad building and extended topossibly five or six trailers,'' the fire department said in a statement. At about 9 a.m., around 70 firefighters were sent to the 200 block of West Avenue L, and declared knockdown at about 10 a.m. Video footage sent to Eyewitness News showed plumes of black smoke billowing from far away. UPS told NBCLA in a statement that it is cooperating with authorities but does "not have additional information to share at this time." No injuries are reported as of 11 a.m. Monday. The incident remains under investigation. — City News Service contributed to this report.
