Beans or no beans … that is the question.
The University of Houston-Downtown is on a quest to taste the best of the best during its annual Chili Cook-Off, 3 - 7 p.m., Friday, April 22 on the South Deck.
Interested Gators are encouraged to register their teams, with a minimum of five people per team. A mandatory Team Captain meeting is scheduled 2:30 - 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, One Main Building, Room N600. Registration packets are available online.
The registration deadline is Monday, April 18. No entries will be accepted after April 18.
On the day of the event, judging begins at 4 p.m. in the categories of Best Chili, Best Décor, and People's Choice Award. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m. A full list of rules regarding ingredients, setup, preparation, and cleanup is listed online.
Tasting tickets are available online for guests who would like to attend. In recognition of Employee Appreciation Week, complimentary Chili Cook-Off tickets will be available for UHD employees through the close of business on Monday, April 18. This includes a Chili Tasting Bowl and dessert.
