The Vatthanatham Lao Foundation cordially invite you and your family to attend our 4th annual Lao New Year Celebration in Downtown Merced. ບັດເຊີນ ງານບຸນປີໃໝ່ລາວ (Lao New Year Celebration)The committee members of the Vatthanatham Lao Foundation cordially invite you and your family to attend our 4th annual Lao New Year Celebration in Downtown Merced on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The celebration will begin at 10:00 am with the giving of alms to the monks -- “tak baht.” At 11:00 am, we will have a “Baci Sukhuan” ceremony to tie strings on each other’s wrists for good luck. Starting at 1:30 pm, we will present traditional performances. There will be live music by musicians who have donated their time to help us celebrate. There will be vendors selling Lao and Southeast Asian cuisine and other items. There will also be activities for kids provided by our sponsors and vendors. One of the highlights of this festival is water splashing for good luck, so you will likely get wet. We are very excited for another opportunity to share our culture and sincerely hope you will join us.
