Description
I have to make the tough decision of rehoming my chocolate labrador retriever puppy.
I got her from a breeder at 2 months old. Since then, I've enrolled her in puppy school to socialize her as soon as possible and hired professional dog trainers so she is very well behaved. Now, at 10 months old, she's a happy + healthy dog that gets along with all people and dogs. I made it a point to take her out to different environments as often as possible so she's very resilient and not reactive.
She's fully vaccinated but not spayed yet as I've been waiting for her to go through her first heat cycle. My initial goal was to have her as an amazing off-leash dog so we've spent significant amounts of time at Fort Funston and her recall is great. Since she's still young, this still needs to be trained on the regular basis. Other basic commands include: sit, down, stay, leave it, go potty, up, off, ok, wait, no.
I am in no rush as I would like her to go to someone who will love her and give her a great quality of life. Since she's a high-energy dog, she will need at least an hour of exercise a day (fetch, walking, or off-leash play). Having a backyard is best unless you have easy access to an off-leash area like Fort Funston.
There will be a rehoming fee to help cover some of the expenses I've had to spend from raising her as a puppy.
