Press release from the San Antonio Public Library: Andrew Crews 21 March 2022 1968 Central Park Mall holds its grand opening (right). 1976 "Charlie's Angels" debuts as a TV movie at 8:00 p.m. on KSAT 12, just after "The Six Million Dollar Man." 1980 Playland Park opens for the season at 2222 N. Alamo Street. No one knows at the time but this will be the final hurrah for the long-time San Antonio amusement park. The park will close at midnight on Labor Day and never reopen again.
