TEMECULA, CA —Rancho California Road will close for construction and a detour will be put into place starting March 16 for visitors and residents of the Temecula Valley Wine Country. Riverside County Transportation is removing and reconstructing the existing pavement at the Rancho California and Anza Road roundabout, as well as 200 yards of roadway in each direction at the intersection of Rancho California and Anza Roads, officials say. From March 16 through March 18 traffic flaggers will be out and lanes will be closed on Rancho California and Anza Roads Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., and on Friday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. On March 19, there will be Saturday work with no traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The "full and continuous road closure" is set to begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday March 20. The roadway is expected to reopen on March 26 at 6 p.m. Workers will remain in the area until the end of the month, flagging traffic and intermittently closing lanes from 7 a.m. through 6 p.m. on weekdays until the project is complete. A detour for drivers heading out to Temecula Valley Wine Country will be in place until the end of March 2022.
