HEMET, CA — A teen boy who was hit by a car Monday in Hemet was in critical condition, and police are asking for the public's help in finding the young people who allegedly shoved him into the roadway. The 15-year-old boy, whose identity was not released, was struck at approximately 4:25 p.m. at the intersection of Stetson Avenue and Seven Hills Drive. The teen had been riding his skateboard eastbound on Stetson Avenue near the intersection with Seven Hills Drive when a group of young people got into a brief altercation with him, according to Hemet police. The argument ended with the teen being pushed into traffic lanes by the group, police said. A 52-year-old man driving a white Tesla hit the boy. The man immediately stopped and is not suspected of speeding nor driving under the influence, according to police. "The driver is cooperating with investigators," police said. The group of young people fled the scene with the teen's skateboard, according to police. As of Monday night, the teen was in critical condition at an area hospital, but he is expected to survive, according to the police department. Investigators are asking for the public's help in tracking down the group of young people who were allegedly involved in the incident. Police are also interested in any dash-cam video that motorists may have recorded of the incident or of the young people fleeing. "Hemet PD detectives are currently working on identifying them and their exact involvement in this seemingly senseless incident," the Hemet Police Department said in a news release. Potential witnesses are urged to contact Sergeant Gabe Gomez at 951-765-2396 or [email protected]
