Description
Hello my name is Brooke, I’ve been living in Sherman heights for a couple of months and I have noticed a family in the area that is living on the streets. There’s two children, ones a boy around 8 years old and a younger child that’s maybe 3 years old. We all know homeless is a huge issue in the city but I really hate to see kids living out of tents on the sidewalk. I don’t have many resources but I want to do what I can to help them. I’ve given the kids some leftover pastries from my work once and they are very sweet. I’m making this post in hopes that someone in the Sherman heights/imperial/ Logan heights area might have a private room or anything that they might be able to offer to them. If you have any housing connections or if any home owners in the area have an attached studio or anything, and are living comfortably, and might have a way to help these kids get off the street i ask that you consider opening your doors to them. I’m not sure of the circumstances or what their parent figure is like, but it’s obvious they’re just trying to get by and make the most of what they have. Or if anyone knows of any local organizations that might be able to help let me know. I know cps is a bit controversial and I don’t want the family to get split up so please don’t contact them or the police unless it’s an emergency.
I’m just posting this to see if anyone might have anything to offer :-) I hope to introduce myself to them soon and give them some more things. But if anyone would be willing to help in any way I would be glad to go tell them about the opportunity, I’m not even sure if they’d accept it. I’m just trying to help and spread awareness, we have to rely on community in times like these when the city government isn’t doing much to help these people.
