Taste Of The Seven Seas Welcome to San Leon's first legal rum distillery. A small Texan drinking community "with a large fishing problem," San Leon boasts a distillery offering locals and tourists alike a venue proud to serve high-quality handcrafted spirits. The relaxed atmosphere combines the "gritty pirate behavior with cool Caribbean vibes." The idea for a new distillery started after the owners got sick of drinking bad rum at their favorite watering hole, Buccaneer Bar in the San Leon Marina. Hurricane Ike destroyed the original Buccaneer in 2008. In 2012 after the owners, backed by the Texas Distilled Spirits Association, lobbied Texas legislators to change distillery laws, the "new" tasting room opened to the public in 2013. Come sit a spell, talk like a pirate, and enjoy some of the best spirits made in Texas!
