SAN FRANCISCO, CA — San Francisco fire crews declared "breaking mews" on Saturday after they rescued a black cat from the side of a building in the mission district.
Firefighters were searching for the kitty's owner after it was safely retrieved.
"The cat was successfully rescued and hopefully will be reunited with its human companion," San Francisco Fire Department Lt. Johnathan Baxter said in a video.
The cat had been meowing for hours, Baxter said and was found in the area of 2501 Harrison.
"If you live in the area of 2501 Harrison. Between 21st and 22nd, and are missing a beautiful young cat please contact @SFACC If this cat turns out to be homeless, contact @sfacc for possible adoption availability," read a tweet from the department.
