Birding for beginners hike led by the Open Space Authority on Coyote Ridge
Come explore Coyote Ridge Open Space Preserve and learn the basics of birding with docents John and Kathy, two amazing birdwatchers! This preserve’s rare serpentine grassland provides critical habitat for a variety of birds, including burrowing owls, golden eagles, bald eagles, Western meadowlarks, American kestrels, horned larks, and more.
This program takes place at the top of Coyote Ridge and will include a flat and easy 2-mile hike with two small hills (about 100 feet in elevation gain). The ground may be uneven in places.
Bring binoculars, a good pair of hiking shoes, a hat, drinking water, snacks, and an eye for some cool birds! We recommend dressing in layers for possibly breezy weather at the top of the ridge. In the event of rain or inclement weather conditions this event will be canceled.
