ATTLEBORO, MA — Attleboro Mayor Paul Heroux reminded city residents on Wednesday that state guidelines on make-wearing and social distancing of at least 6 feet do apply to private parties in people's yards and on their porches. He said the recent changes in state directives were not in place earlier this summer when the city received complaints about larger gatherings where protocols were not being enforced, but indicate they will be now. "A number of weeks ago before this order was issued, there were a number of parties and gatherings in Attleboro in people's yards," Heroux posted in a message to the community. "The police department, health department and my office received a lot of complaints about these gatherings. At that time there was no rule about it. That has changed. "Please be mindful and observe the governor's guidance and governor's orders as a way to help further decrease the spread of this virus. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated by all." The mask and distancing requirements are in addition to the 50-person limit for all outdoor gatherings.
