SAN MATEO, CA — A rise in coronavirus cases has led to the temporary closure of a popular Peninsula hangout. The San Mateo Jockey Club announced the temporary closure "in order to slow the progress of COVID and protect all of our patrons and staff." The Jockey Club is expected to reopen Jan. 7. Patrons will be required to show proof that they're fully vaccinated and have received their booster shots when the Jockey Club reopens. The Jockey Club said it will provide a physically distanced layout. "The San Mateo Jockey Club is committed to the safety of all of our patrons and staff, and hopes to see our patrons in the future," the company said in a statement.
