Description
PETALUMA, CA — One of the worst parts about the end of the holiday season is often trying to figure out where to dispose of your Christmas tree.
In Petaluma, residents can either put their tree outside for pickup or take advantage of drop off areas for trees through the month of January.
As part of Sonoma County's "Zero Waste" effort, Christmas trees are recycled into mulch and compost each year.
Trees should be stripped of all decorations, stands, flocking, tinsel and lights before they can be accepted, according to the county.
For curbside and residential collection, whole trees of less than 6 feet or larger trees cut in half can be placed outside beside your yard waste bin.
Trees will be picked up in Petaluma Dec. 27 through Dec. 31.
Those who wish to drop off whole, unflocked trees, may do so here:
Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds
175 Fairgrounds Drive
Dec. 26 to Jan. 14 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
(Along the fence between the office of the Sonoma-Airport Express and the main gate.)
