Merry Christmas, Sacramento! Let's get this day started. Here's everything happening in Sacramento today. First, today's weather: Cooler; a little morning rain. High: 47 Low: 38. Here are the top 4 stories today in Sacramento: Deputies and firefighters in Sacramento County worked to brighten up the holidays for one family after their apartment was damaged in a fire. The donations came from the Sacramento Sheriff's Toy Project, a program that operates all year to help families in need in the county. "It's just touching; it's deep. I'm holding tears now – just to see how much people care when it comes to a tragic moment," said Chris White Jr., who lost his home in the fire. "They made my kids' Christmas for them." (KCRA3)While the current storms are hindering mountain travel in these days before Christmas, the results are going to provide a great opportunity in the days and weeks ahead to take those new skis and snowboards and head up Highway 50 or 80 to hit the slopes. Weather forecasts predict anywhere from 19 inches up to 30 inches of new fall is expected in the Sierra. Here's what you can expect at your favorite ski resort! (Gold Country Media)In September 2021, Planning and Environmental Review (PER) – now part of the Community Development Department – released a draft of the Climate Action Plan (CAP) that was meant to be the Final Draft. Based on valuable community feedback, and in response to the Board of Supervisors resolution declaring a climate emergency, the CAP is once again being updated. The next draft of the CAP is due out in February 2022. Public comments will be accepted for a period of 30 days following the release of the draft CAP. (Saccounty.gov)Did you know that Jimmy Stewart's daughter lives near Davis? She does and she has a take on one of his holiday favorite films (and mine), "It's A Wonderful Life." "It is about decency and honesty, but it's also about sacrifice," said Kelly Stewart Harcourt, as she spoke with ABC10 at her Yolo County home. She said her father counted "It's a Wonderful Life" among his most cherished films. "I think he was proud of his performance," Harcourt said. "It's a Wonderful Life" was Stewart's return to acting after serving in the military during World War II. "The fact that he is still being embraced by people, that his legacy lives on is—see, this is when I get teary-eyed—a gift to our family," she said. "I'm so proud that…he means something to different generations." (ABC10) Today in Sacramento: Treat your dog to a free Christmas dinner at University of Beer in Sacramento.
