On Dec. 13, 2021, a jury found defendant Curtis Standley guilty of the second-degree murder of Jason Coleman with the use of a firearm.
On September 14, 2017 on 42nd Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Telegraph Avenue in Oakland, the defendant stole Coleman's bicycle and began riding away with it. Coleman, along with two other witnesses, chased after the defendant in an attempt to get the bike back. The defendant fell off the bike, allowing for two of the witnesses to catch up.
