Monrovians' Input Sought On How City Should Spend $15 Million

MONROVIA, CA — Monrovia will make $15 million through the Measure K sales tax increase, and city leaders want to hear from residents on how they should use that money. The Monrovia Area Partnership and the City Manager's office will hold a virtual community meeting Wednesday, seeking feedback from residents on how they should use the funds. Voters approved a 3/4 cent sales tax increase in 2019. The increase was effective April 2020, and Monrovia will bring in $15 million by 2023 because of Measure K, officials said. The meeting will be from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Zoom, with the meeting ID 862 1435 6452. City officials have already held several meetings in November and December, eliciting feedback from residents on how Monrovia should spend the money. Projects that will use Measure K funds must be aligned with the city's goals of "financial management, infrastructure, customer service and relationship," city officials said.
