PASADENA, CA — A stolen dog was able to get himself rescued thanks to a GPS-enabled collar, the Pasadena Police Department announced Wednesday.
Authorities said a car was stolen in the 1000 block of East Union Street last week. The thief also took off with Kazoo, a dog inside the car who had a GPS collar.
"What our suspect didn't know was that the victim's canine companion had a special collar that was able to provide us with the GPS location of not only the dog but also the suspect and the stolen vehicle," police said in a social media post.
Officers with the Pasadena and Los Angeles police departments used the GPS signal from Kazoo's collar to track the car near the El Segundo and Los Angeles border.
Authorities conducted a traffic stop on the car near the 105 Freeway and Imperial Highway and arrested a man, Pasadena police said.
Both Kazoo and the car were recovered safely, according to police.
