MARINA DEL REY, CA — Sheriff's harbor patrol officials are asking the public to keep safety in mind after a boat ran aground in Marina del Rey last month.
Harbor patrol deputies and Los Angeles County lifeguards responded late Nov. 29 to a 28-foot pleasure craft that had gone aground just north of the entrance to the marina, authorities said.
People on the boat were able to make it shore safely, officials said.
"Due to various environmental conditions at the time of the incident, it was determined it would be safer for a commercial tow service to recover the vessel this morning," officials said.
"Our Harbor Patrol Deputies would like to remind our sea-going community to always carry their required safety equipment, wear a life jacket, be aware of their surroundings and if time permits call for help on VHF16 sooner than later," officials said.
