Movie Night: Ghost Stories for Christmas
There is a very old oral tradition of telling supernatural tales at Christmas, and the Brits cornered the market on amazing film adaptations of these stories. (Ebeneezer Scrooge, anyone?)
Often drawing on the classic spooky tales of M.R. James, A Ghost Story for Christmas was an annual British broadcast 1971 and 1978 airing on Christmas Night, and revived again in the 2000s.
We will be showing the 1972 classic A Warning to the Curious, as well as a selection from the revival period, 2013's The Tractate Middoth (by Sherlock's Mark Gatiss).
All are welcome, just keep in mind that the images and stories are very spooky! Feel free to bring a comfy cushion or chair, and snacks!
