Drug, Weapons Suspects Crash Into Vehicles: Police

SANTA MONICA, CA — Santa Monica police are asking the public for help locating a weapons and narcotics suspect who fled the area after crashing into several vehicles. Officers responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the 900 block of Ocean Avenue about 7:15 p.m. Nov. 28, according to Lt. Rudy Flores of the Santa Monica Police Department. Officers located a black Jeep leaving the area and when an officer attempted to stop the vehicle it fled at a high rate of speed in the 1000 block of 2nd Street, crashing and hitting several parked vehicles and a tree, Flores said. The two suspects inside the car ran away and only one was located after, Flores said. A subsequent search of the suspect vehicle revealed a loaded rifle and handgun. Police also found several prescription pills, and many opiate-based, and other unknown pills. Officers also found more than 200 grams of marijuana, several THC edibles and bundles of small plastic baggies and a digital scale The driver of the vehicle, suspect Ken Lee Fernandez, 22, of Buena Park, was booked on suspicion of possession of weapons and narcotics, along with delaying and obstructing arrest. He is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall to six feet, 2 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and black sweatpants. No further suspect description was provided.
