First, today's weather: Fog in the a.m.; mostly sunny. High: 66 Low: 43. Here are the top stories in Sacramento today: Three people suffered injuries in a fiery head-on collision that closed a portion of Interstate 5 Tuesday morning at the Interstate 80 interchange in the Natomas area impacting the morning commute. Lanes opened just after 7:30. A suspected impaired driver of a BMW sedan was traveling in the wrong direction on southbound I-5 around 1:30 a.m. when the car hit a big rig head-on, CHP said. The driver of the BMW was arrested for driving under the influence and was taken to the hospital with injuries that are now classified as major, CHP said. The driver is expected to survive. A passenger in the big rig suffered only minor injuries, while the driver of the truck was not harmed. (KCRA3) Sacramento City Unified School District students had until November 30th to submit their vaccination record. As of November 29th, according to the SCUSD COVID-19 vaccination dashboard, 75% of students are not vaccinated or haven't uploaded their vaccine card. The mandate says that, if students are not vaccinated by the new school year in January, they will have to enroll in independent study. The problem with that plan is that there are not enough remote teachers. SCUSD provided the following response: "Starting December 1, SCUSD will begin the work of reaching out directly to those who did not file their vaccination status to guide them on the path to be compliant with our requirement by the January deadline. SCUSD will also be continuing to offer weekly vaccination clinics and provide testing to those who are not fully vaccinated." (ABC10)One person has died after a car crashed into a building in Sacramento early Tuesday morning. Just after 1 a.m., officers responded to a crash near Broadway and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and found that a vehicle had hit a building. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. (CBS Sacramento)Lions and tigers and bears? Not here. That's what the Sacramento Zoo officials are saying about its current Land Park location. There have been talks about moving the zoo since the '70s, and about six months ago the city entered into an exclusive negotiation agreement with Elk Grove on a new location. The City Council is now taking up that discussion, yet again. It was an agenda topic at the meeting Tuesday. There is agreement that the park needs to move to enlarge the area and upgrade the animal care, but just when and where are still questions being pondered. (CBS Sacramento)The Tahoe Park community in Sacramento stepped in to help a neighborhood donut shop that was broken into on Thanksgiving. The Sacramento Police Department said it is still looking for the person who burglarized Village Express Donut on 14th Avenue. Word of the break-in quickly spread around Tahoe Park. Neighborhood president Isaac Gonzalez started a GoFundMe to help support the business owner. The community raised more than $6,000 in four days.
