Volunteers Sought For Pasadena's Annual Homeless Count

PASADENA, CA — City officials are looking for volunteers to help with Pasadena's annual homeless count in January. Volunteers will go out in teams of three or four to count and survey people in the city experiencing homelessness during the night of Jan. 25 and the morning of Jan. 26. Not only does the count provide the city with an idea of how many people are experiencing homelessness in Pasadena, but it also helps officials how to allocate resources for homeless services and programs, according to city spokeswoman Lisa Derderian. "The Pasadena Homeless Count sets in motion a year full of education, engagement and action for the Pasadena Partnership to End Homelessness," she said in a statement. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to participate and show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or have a negative virus test taken within 72 hours of the count, Derderian said. A mandatory online volunteer orientation will be on either Jan. 18 or 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, visit the Pasadena Partnership website.
