MURRIETA, CA — A 36-year-old man who died in a crash early Monday morning in Murrieta has been identified.
Darron Kelly of Moreno Valley died around 5 a.m. at the crash scene in the 25000 block of Jefferson Avenue, just north of Guava Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.
On Tuesday, Murrieta police released details and said the investigation determined a white full-size work truck was heading north on Jefferson Avenue, from Guava Street, in the #3 lane. Kelly was walking on Jefferson in the #3 lane and was hit by the truck. The impact caused fatal injuries.
A woman who identified herself as Kelly's Aunt on GoFundMe said her nephew was a father to a daughter.
"She was his everything. He lived & breathed for her. As long as she was happy & smiling, so was he," the page read. "All he wanted was everyone together to celebrate the holidays and just good times. He didn't ask for much. Just time with family. He is adored by all of us."
Murrieta police initially reported the incident on social media Monday morning and warned motorists that northbound Jefferson was closed between Guava and Murrieta Hot Springs Road during the investigation.
The roadway was reported reopened at 10:43 a.m. Monday.
