WildCare’s Terwilliger Nature Guides lead guided discovery walks for elementary school children in beautiful natural areas with the goal of educating children about nature and how to live well with wildlife! Duties include: - leading nature hikes for small groups (5-8) of elementary school students - help children build respect for nature and the natural world - stimulate children’s interest in nature and the environment - occasionally serve as day leader and communicate with classroom teacher before the hike regarding day of hike logistics - educate children about WildCare’s mission Requirements: - must be 18 or older - must complete all required training sessions - must be able to commit to lead nature hikes three times per month on weekday mornings for one year while schools are in session (September - June). All hikes take place on weekday mornings during the school year and will be scheduled in advance. - must be amenable to regular email communication - must be able to stand and walk for 3 hours - must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 Benefits: In addition to gaining great satisfaction from successfully stimulating a child's interest in nature and the environment, you will: - meet other nature lovers and cultivate new friendships - expand your knowledge of local wildlife - experience personal and professional growth - participate in continued learning - be invited to special WildCare events Interested in learning more?
