Description

Hi Folks! I just finished setting up a darkroom that I would like to offer to other folks to develop their own film and print/process their own photographs. Traditionally trained in photography, I feel compelled to revert back to the classic medium after doing digital for a while. I thought it would be fun to set this up and have it be a place where we keep traditional photography alive and well, or simply learn the whole process altogether:) It will have everything you need to print up to 11” by 14” photos and even bigger as the Beseler enlarger can pivot to project negatives against a wall. The room will obviously be light tight and you will have it all to yourself for any days you decide you’d like it. The table at the end can also be used for still life or any kind of small scale photography with either the window light or a pair of studio strobes I can make available that syncs with your camera. In exchange I am thinking an extremely reasonable compensation of 8$/hour or 50$ for a full day for darkroom use. Maybe a teeny bit extra if you would like to use the nice studio lighting:) I can provide the first bit of film developer to get going, then you can provide you own paper/chemicals, and you are welcome to use one of the shelves there to store in in between sessions if you’d like. It doesn’t take much at all to get up and going! I can give some direction with that if you’d like. Just ask. The time frame of access would reach indefinitely past the 2 week block I entered on the posting. Feel free to write and we can chat more about the opportunity. The space is conveniently located in the Pill Hill area of Oakland. There is a bathroom, and also a counter with fridge and microwave and sink too. Let’s keep photography alive together!
