By Victoria Hsieh, Bay City News Foundation SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA — The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center has successfully launched a new heart procedure program at O' Connor Hospital according to Santa Clara County Public Affairs. The clinic team performed their first two procedures last week. Both patients are recovering and doing well, officials said. The new Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Program is a minimally invasive surgery option for patients who experience aortic stenosis, the narrowing of the aortic valve. The procedure has a lower risk of complication and a faster recovery time than a traditional aortic valve replacement. Hospital leadership and the clinical multidisciplinary team spent 16 months developing the program during the pandemic. Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services Dr. Mehrdad Rezaee will speak about the program's launch on Monday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the O' Connor Hospital main entrance, at 2105 Forest Ave. in San Jose.
