Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today: The Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission on Thursday recommended the 30-year home of master architect Paul Revere Williams for the Historic-Cultural Monument List. Williams designed more than 3,000 buildings during his nearly six-decade career and was the first African American architect to be a member and fellow of the American Institute of Architects. (MyNewsLA.com) Ginny Mancini, a jazz singer in the heyday of the big-band era who became a generous benefactor to the concert halls of Los Angeles as well as the city's small and often struggling music academies for children, has died at her home in Malibu. One of Hollywood's leading philanthropists, Mancini died Oct. 25. She was 97. (Los Angeles Times)The Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee is seeking to hire for thousands of temporary positions tied to February's big NFL game at Inglewood's SoFi Stadium. Super Bowl LVI is scheduled for Feb. 13, 2022, marking the first time in almost 30 years that the high-profile sporting event will be in the Los Angeles region.(KTLA)On Thursday, Los Angeles city crews began clearing away massive piles of trash outside a Koreatown home whose owner has been described as a hoarder. The piles of junk, stacked about 8 feet high in some places on the property, are visible from the street and overhead. (KABC-TV) Tiny shelters were shipped and built in the Brentwood area to serve high-risk homeless veterans. Each unit has heating, air conditioning, and a bed. These homes come from the minds of the veterans themselves, and were shipped and constructed for the VA's West Los Angeles campus.
