SoulSkin presents CLOSER Season 8 SOULSKIN presents CLOSER Season 8 Nov 5 & 6, 2021 at 8pm In theater (Dance Mission Theater, 3316 24th St, SF) Following their world premiere at the Aspen Fringe Festival Oct 1, 2021, SOULSKIN present’s the new Dance Film CLOSER created by SOULSKIN Dance Choreographer Adrianna Thompson during the Covid Pandemic. CLOSER reveals our need for human connection and the diversity and inclusion that is essential in a true democracy. CLOSER was created in collaboration with SOULSKIN Resident filmmaker Jaco Strydom over a period of 7 months. Also viewers will be treated to a sneak peak of a new dance in progress, The Awakening. The vibe for this ballet harks back to the 70's and never ending party that was STUDIO 54. The dance floor became a platform for individual exploration and expression of all kinds. Disco music became a common thread for peoples of all races and classes to share. The Awakening is both Celebration and a Prayer… to sow the seeds of reconciliation and compassion in a time of division. TICKET PRICING: $25.00 in person / $15 livestream Advance tickets encouraged as space is limited due to COVID-19 precautions. COVID-19 precautions: Please note, per SF's mandate, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required to attend performance (photo is okay). You are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after final dose. Masks are required to be worn the entire time audience is in building. Performers are vaccinated and will not be masked. There will be 12 feet between audience and performers. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to curtain. Dance Mission connects and empowers diverse Bay Area communities and artists through all aspects of dance and dance theater, including the production of new works, instruction, and performance. We are an artist-driven, feminist organization dedicated to building community, addressing social justice issues, exploring cultural identities, promoting inclusivity, and creating a more peaceful world through collective action.  Many female artists, artists of color, and culturally specific ensembles consider Dance Mission to be their artistic home. Master teachers of dance and music have created a thriving inter-generational community celebrating cultural traditions, welcoming students of all backgrounds. Dance Mission is also the home of Krissy Keefer’s Dance Brigade, San Francisco’s groundbreaking, feminist social-change modern dance company.
