PETALUMA, CA — Petaluma police were looking for the suspect in an assault reported earlier this week at Steamer Landing Park. Around 9 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a disturbance at the park at East D and Copeland streets and spoke with a 55-year-old man who said he was assaulted and possibly suffered a broken arm. Parademics with the Petaluma Fire Department responded and took the victim to Petaluma Valley Hospital. In an interview with officers, the victim said he had an argument with another man in the park. He told officers the suspect became angry and made his dog bite him, then struck him with a wooden 2 x 4. Police said the victim's arm was not broken but he had cuts on both arms. Officers checked the park but did not find anyone matching the description of the suspect. The victim described the suspect as a white man who was around 6 feet tall and weighed 200 pounds. The suspect had a dog but its breed was not known. "If anyone witnessed this incident, please contact the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372," police said.
