First, today's weather: Mostly sunny and cool. High: 70 Low: 52. (ABC10)Sacramento deputies arrested a woman after what was described by the sheriff's office as an attempted kidnapping. Dispatchers on Monday around 1:10 p.m. got a call from a person who said they were watching an attempted kidnapping near the 1900 block of Fulton Avenue near Alta Arden Expressway, the sheriff's office said. Deputies arrived and arrested the woman. (KCRA3)It was machete vs baseball bat when one Sacramento man confronted a burglar in his garage. The burglar had stolen the machete from the homeowner's truck and was brandishing it when the homeowner came into the garage. Though the homeowner doesn't recommend confronting someone who has a sword, he said he was pretty fed up with the whole situation since this wasn't the first time he's had a break-in at his locked, gated complex. He managed to scare the guy off with the bat. The suspect left behind a bike, which police took during their investigation. (CBS Sacramento) This week brought a trunk or treat event to Del Paso Heights at Mama Marks Park. The event was organized by the Sacramento police in response to the shooting death, last year, of a 9-year-old girl in the park. "Any time we get an opportunity to bring community-based organizations and the police department together for positive interactions, it really helps building that trust that we want," explained Sgt. Eddie Macaulay. (CBS Sacramento) There have been some significant indicators that the US House would vote on President Joe Biden's traditional infrastructure bill but those indicators seem to be softening a little. Whenever the vote does come, Congresswoman Doris Matsui stressed the importance of the bill for the region. "Between the House-passed invest act, the president's budget and bipartisan infrastructure framework, there's more than $190 million in potential funding that could be headed straight into our region," Matsui explained. "Money for projects like our new I Street Bridge, our flood protection projects and renewable energy improvements are regional priorities I fought to include in these bills." Seems like a good reason to watch these national negotiations more closely. (FOX40) Today's Sacramento Daily is brought to you by Newrez, a leading nationwide mortgage lender.
