Hands On Herbal Medicine: Elderberry Syrup and Immune System SupportSaturday November 6th, 11 am - 1 pm at Alemany Farm Instructor: Bonnie Rose Weaver Our immune systems are our body’s method to defend and protect ourselves. As the viral pandemic wears on, what are ways we can support this system? Join us for this hands-on workshop on the farm where we will learn to make a traditional immune system tonic, elderberry syrup. Fun for all ages, this delicious and local remedy can be a powerful acute remedy to have on hand this cold and flu season. We will also cover a handful of other herbs, diet and lifestyle remedies for preventative immune system support. Children of five years and up are welcome to be accompanied by an adult. Bonnie Rose Weaver (they/she) is a clinical herbalist, medicinal landscaper, and lifelong San Franciscan. She is an urban farmer, remedy maker, outdoor educator and the author of "Deeply Rooted: Medicinal Plant Cultivation in Techtropolis." She is a student of The Blue Otter School and The Chinese Medicinal Herb Farm. They are an illustrator and likes to play with clay. If you plan to take BART, please use the directions provided in the link above (Google walking directions can lead you astray). Is there parking? Yes there is limited parking on the farm (on the gravel drive inside the fence). There is also street parking on Alemany Blvd and Ellsworth streets and in the surrounding neighborhood by St Mary Rec Center. Friends of Alemany Farm is a volunteer group that manages the horticulture, volunteer, and educational programs at Alemany Farm, a 3.5 acre organic farm ecosystem in southeast San Francisco.
